So couple of days ago I, Miss Strawberry, interviewed two of our best friends. They are Amaranti Citaresmi (31) from Bandung, Indonesia. And Leon Breukelman (17) from the Netherlands. So I asked about five questions to all of them.
1. Tell me your opinion about global warming.
2. What things do you do that you think they might help to save the world from global warming ?
3. What else do you think that people can do to save the world ?
4. What bad damages will happened if you don't do anything to save the world ?
5. What mostly caused the global warming ?
So here are the answers.
Leon :
1. My opinion is somewhat neutral I guess. I think some activists are overacting about it, but the government doesn't do much about it, because else the economy will break. But basically, I "believe" in it. It is proven that the earth is warming, and proven that all the machinery does it. We are slowly killing the earth, but don't live long enough to witness it. Kind of unfair to our children.
2. Except from the regular stuff (saving on electricity and recycling and such) the government should not only care about money. They should invest in cars that run on water (which I know they're exist) and make them cheaper, invest the windmills and other unlimited electricity supplies, and try to make all factories and such as clean as possible.
3. The regular people who walk the streets, could help by recycling and also saving electricity and such. But also keep an eye out for each other, walk and ride the bike more often, take the public transportations more instead of you alone in an car. Don't buy unusual stuffs you never will use. That's about it I guess..
4. Well, on (very) long scale, I think the earth just will die out. With no more fossil fuel, the water sinking away, the plants and animals dying and extincting. and eventually just overheat. Somewhat looking like mars a bit maybe?
5. I believe, like I said earlier, that the economy mainly is responsible. Just because if there will be invested in things that are good and durable, nobody will buy as much, and money will become worthless. But in other terms, like proven, CO2 and such. So mainly the cars and factories.
Oh and anyway, it would be possible to use Mars for this. It has been proven or rumored or suggested, that Mars has the same structure as the Earth. But the only thing that will make it livable is CO2. So if there would be power-plants and factories placed on Mars for a while, Earth would last longer, and we perhaps have another planet we can populate.
And we need more trees! less houses, and more trees! Here in Holland we only build a lot. Destroying more and more plants and such
Ama :
1. Some people say global warming is only a dramatized issue, some people say global warming issue is not transparently published so the issue is not really accurate. But dramatized or hidden, I personally believe in the issue. Bandung is a lot more hotter now than before and just look at the strange climate we had in 2010!
2. Well, I try to avoid unnecessary trips by car to save the fuel and so my car won't release too much CO2. I also maintain my car's "health" so it won't release any other dangerous substance to the air. And yeah, save on electricity off course and cut back on the use of papers and tissues. If I happen to have my own house, I'll have lots of plants there -- just wish I have enough space there!
3. Plant more trees and avoid the cut of the trees!!! We need them! At least this is the issue that should be raised in Indonesia.
4. The climate will changed extremely and brings more disaster to the world... At least the world won't be a comfy place to live in when my kids grow up.
5. The fossil-fuel transportation modes, some unqualified home appliances, factories and the lost of plantation areas.
So the point is, we need to avoid global warming and decrease its bad damages for our lives and our futures. It's just that simple. Start saving more electricity like turning off your lamps if they are not used or at the day. Decrease using personal car to reduce C02 (Carbon Dioxide). Do the 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace). Plant more trees as the source of O2 (Oxygen). And don't forget to always use safe things, which won't cause any pollution or damage the environment.
